Lead DSP - Abilities Plus
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at Abilities Plus. The Lead DSP will play a vital role in fostering independence, dignity, and quality of life for those we serve.
Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
Administer medications and monitor vital signs in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans
Provide patient observation and monitor behavioral or health changes
Prepare nutritious meals according to individual dietary needs and assist with cooking as necessary
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer techniques
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities, medication administration, and resident progress
Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including memory care and social activities
Ensure a clean, safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks when needed
Support residents during community outings or activities to promote engagement and socialization
Uphold all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies
Participate in on-call rotation and assist with light housekeeping and maintenance
Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
DSP certification or CNA experience is preferred
Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
Valid Driver's License, reliable transportation and proof of insurance
Demonstrated knowledge of working with people with developmental or physical disabilities
Experience in patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility needs
