Senior Underwriter, Employer Stop Loss

Senior UnderwriterBerkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is seeking a Senior Underwriter for our growing Accident and Health Division. The selected candidate will work side by side with our Employer Stop Loss Sales team and be responsible for helping develop and grow relationships with our customers and distribution partners. We are seeking candidates who have 7+ years of employer stop loss underwriting experience, thrive in a fast-paced collaborative team environment, enjoys working directly with various distribution models and exhibit a thorough understanding of employer stop loss underwriting. The position is based in Indianapolis, IN; Plymouth Meeting, PA; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; or we will consider remote arrangements. Duties & Responsibilities: Build and manage an Employer Stop-Loss portfolio with an emphasis on new business sales, renewal persistency, and hitting loss ratio targets Work with sales team in a market facing capacity to develop strategic relationships with brokers, TPA's, and other distribution partners Identify and assess the impact of emerging risk and market conditions Present rates and recommendations to broker and TPA partners with a consultative approach Deliver dependable and timely service while managing daily interactions and pipeline activity Act as a mentor and coach for junior underwriters by providing guidance and developmental feedback Participate in Underwriting projects and division initiatives as needed Recommend and participate in ongoing improvements to support department growth and workflow Some travel involved Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 7+ years of employer stop loss underwriting experience Extensive employer stop loss product and market knowledge Excellent organizational and time management skills Mentoring and coaching skills Strong creative problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills Demonstrate strong relationships with external partners Expertise in a specialty area such as Reference-based Pricing, Native American plans Professional demeanor and able to work in a collaborative, fast paced, team-oriented environment Expertise in working with ESL Office BHSI Offers: A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
