Field Network Technician

Job DescriptionOur client is looking for a Field Service Dispatch Technician with a proven track record in: Racking and stacking of network devices Cable patching Physical layer troubleshooting Installing and troubleshooting Cisco and Avaya IP phones, performing day-to-day field installation, configuration, service, preventative maintenance, equipment decommissions, etc. Position Details: Hourly salary based upon the level of experience & skill setA permanent position may be offered after a minimum of 6 months' trial periodStandard work hoursField Dispatch work is generally Monday - Friday/Saturday and mostly daytime, but some nights may be requested for project work and/or incident support work after the sites have closed for the day. Must be available for weekend project work when requested. Advance notice is given whenever possible. Tech must be available to be on a rotating weekly on-call scheduleType / Location: Mobile worker / State of Connecticut between cities near Greenwich, New Haven, Stamford, and Hartford, CT. Tech may also be dispatched to nearby states occasionally. Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle with the ability to carry a 6-foot ladderMust have a working smartphone to access the company email and company ticketing systemMust have basic cabling tools/technician toolsMust know how to use a laptop/email/basic knowledge of Office 365 applications such as Word, ExcelMust be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as cable testers and fiber testers. Requires experience in working in communications closetsMust be able to safely lift heavy objectsMust understand cable patching processes and proceduresMust be familiar with 66 Block and 110 Block cross-connect proceduresMust have a basic knowledge of data communications and networkingMust be able to assist in troubleshooting issuesMust understand network terminologyMust be familiar with IP phonesRequires good interpersonal communication skillsMust be able to explain technical issues in a way the customer will understand an issueMust be able to interpret a customer's issue in a way that will allow the technician to facilitate a resolutionExperience and Education:3+ years of experience in data communicationsMust have a basic knowledge of Cisco Phones, switches and routersMust have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.
