Machine Shop Supervisor

Laitram Machine Shop is seeking a Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor leads a VMC CNC machining team and Assembly-Finishing team, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role focuses on team development, daily execution, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Laitram has been recognized for innovation and Key Responsibilities: Supervise and develop a CNC production team (10–20 employees) across two shifts, including rapid prototype and production 3D printing. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards (OSHA, 5S). Coordinate daily production activities including staffing, scheduling, job prioritization, and labor allocation. Provide timely coaching, performance feedback, and formal performance reviews. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, efficiency, and machining capabilities. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and reduce downtime or scrap. Monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and scrap; take corrective action as needed. Support onboarding, training, and cross-training to build team capability and flexibility. Required Qualifications: 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Prior supervisory or lead experience in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment. Working knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, setups, and production workflows. Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam). Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and outside standard shift hours when required. Strong commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and employee development. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field. Experience with MRP systems (Oracle preferred). Knowledge of lean manufacturing and root cause analysis tools.
