Lead Access Control and Security Installation Technician

About the Role:Apex Low Voltage is actively seeking a qualified Lead Access Control and Security Installation Technician to manage and execute commercial installations of access control systems, IP-based surveillance cameras, and intrusion detection alarms. This position requires a self-driven technician with leadership capabilities, field experience, and strong knowledge of integrated commercial security systems.As a lead technician, you will serve as the on-site point of contact, coordinating with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure efficient and high-quality installations.Primary Responsibilities:Lead the installation and servicing of access control systems (e.g. card readers, electric strikes, maglocks, etc.)Install and configure IP-based camera systems, NVRs, and structured cablingPerform installation and programming of intrusion alarm systemsInterpret construction documents and coordinate project schedules and materialsSupervise and mentor field technicians, helpers, and subcontractors on job sitesAct as on-site lead and communicate with project stakeholders, GCs, and inspectorsEnsure all work complies with local codes, customer specifications, and company quality standardsMaintain documentation, daily reports, and time tracking using company-provided apps and toolsTroubleshoot system issues and complete service tickets as assignedRequired Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in commercial access control and surveillance camera installationsProficient with low-voltage cabling, termination, and field installation techniquesWorking knowledge of access control hardware, surveillance camera systems, and video surveillance platformsFamiliarity with structured cabling best practices and physical security system layoutsLead Technician must provide their own basic tool set. Company will provide job-specific materials and specialty tools.Valid driver’s license with clean driving recordMust be eligible to pass a background checkPreferred Credentials:OSHA 10/30 certificationTexas Alarm Installer License (or ability to obtain with company support)Work Environment & Physical Requirements:Must be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, in ceilings, and on active construction sitesAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularlyTravel to job sites across the DFW Metroplex is requiredAbility to occasionally travel to out of state job sitesStandard Monday–Friday schedule with occasional after-hours or weekend workOvertime paid in accordance with federal and Texas labor lawsTeam Culture:At Apex Low Voltage, we believe the strongest results come from strong collaboration.
