Travel to operating company locations as needed.Job SummaryHeritage MEP is hiring a Senior Payroll Specialist to support payroll, prevailing wage compliance, and certified payroll reporting across a growing group of mechanical services companies.This is a hands-on role for someone who knows payroll inside and out, is strong in Excel, and can keep large amounts of payroll data accurate across multiple systems. You will help ensure employees are paid correctly and on time, certified payroll reports are completed accurately, and payroll data ties cleanly into accounting and job costing.This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction, mechanical, contracting, or field services who is comfortable working in a fast-moving, detail-heavy environment.What You'll DoProcess weekly and biweekly payroll across multiple operating companiesReview hours, pay rates, overtime, deductions, and job allocations for accuracyManage prevailing wage payroll compliance, including classifications and fringe calculationsPrepare and submit certified payroll reports for government-funded projectsMaintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reportingUse Excel to reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and prepare uploads/correctionsPrepare CSV files for system imports, bulk updates, and payroll adjustmentsAssist with payroll journal entries and payroll-related reconciliationsHelp ensure payroll costs are properly recorded by job and departmentPartner with HR, accounting, and operations teams across the platformSupport payroll process improvements and standardization as the business growsWhat We're Looking For4+ years of payroll experience in construction, mechanical, contracting, or field servicesDirect experience with prevailing wage payroll and certified payroll reportingExperience with LCPtracker or a similar certified payroll platformAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations, and large data setsExperience working with payroll data across multiple systemsStrong attention to detail and compliance disciplineAbility to manage multiple deadlines and shifting prioritiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with Sage IntacctExperience with ServiceTitan, BuildOps, or similar systemsCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) designationExperience in a multi-entity environmentExperience supporting payroll during acquisitions or system changesWhy Join Heritage MEPHeritage MEP is building a strong platform across the mechanical services industry, and payroll is a critical part of that growth.
