Position Summary
MCC instructors are higher-education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction. They assess student learning to ensure students success, staying abreast of trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Be available to teach in-person courses as scheduled
Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional courses, seminars, or labs consistent with the needs of the college and the community
Participate as a faculty member in college governance, advisement of students, on college committees, and in continuing professional development
Provide appropriate cooperative assistance to the faculty members of the Accounting Department, within the Business, Social Sciences, and Public Services Division, and the faculty and staff at large in striving for educational excellence
Participation in assessment of learning at the classroom, course, departmental, and college level
Departmental Specific Functions and Responsibilities
Accounting Department faculty work collaboratively to
Ensure curriculum, offerings, and activities serve local business through active collaboration with advisory boards and business leaders
Promote the department, and the College as a whole, to future students and community members by coordinating and/or assisting with department-specific programming
Develop relationships with industry partners for work-based learning opportunities (internships, job shadowing, etc.)
Support VITA Tax Clinic operations
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Accounting or Master's degree in Business with 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting
Coursework in a variety of Accounting topics
Understanding of and commitment to community college mission and students.
Desired Qualifications
Community college teaching experience
Demonstrated experience in technology enhanced instruction
Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or similar
Auditing, Payroll, and Tax experience
