Director, Emergency Preparedness

Pay Range$100,526 - $160,846JOB RESPONSIBILITIESCompliance• Maintains current knowledge of all applicable Emergency Management regulatory and accreditation standards• Serves as organizational expert for TJC Emergency Management standards and survey readiness• Ensures documentation demonstrates compliance with required Elements of Performance• Conducts annual program evaluation and coordinates improvement planning• Tracks regulatory updates and communicates changes to leadership and stakeholders• Prepares departments for accreditation surveys and regulatory reviews• Maintains organized, accessible documentation including plans, exercises, After-Action Reports (AARs), and improvement plansOperations• Directs and monitors Emergency Management business processes to ensure effective and efficient operations• Maintains a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and supporting annexes• Ensures required plan components are current (communications, safety/security, utilities, resources, staffing, patient care)• Oversees emergency resource inventory and readiness, including emergency supplies and equipment• Supports activation and operation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and incident command structure• Coordinates multidisciplinary After-Action Reviews and tracks corrective actions to completionPlanning and Program Management• Leads annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) for all facilities and prioritizes risks• Aligns exercise planning with identified high-risk hazards• Coordinates plan updates following exercises, activations, or regulatory changes • Ensures emergency communication systems and contact lists are maintained • Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to ensure defined emergency roles and responsibilities • Promotes consistency in planning across departments and sitesTraining and Education• Develops and implements an Emergency Management Training and Testing Program• Supports staff training of emergency roles and responsibilities• Conducts emergency exercises annually, including community-based or full-scale exercises as required by regulatory standards• Designs, documents, and evaluates drills and exercises• Maintains documentation of FEMA training participation and competency• Provides education to leadership, managers, and staff on emergency preparedness topics as neededCommittee Leadership & Community Engagement• Chairs the Hospital System Emergency Management Committee • Participates in multidisciplinary committees supporting safety and regulatory compliance• Represents the organization in regional healthcare coalitions and community preparedness groups • Coordinates collaborative planning with local, regional, and state emergency partners• Serves as liaison for emergency preparedness agreements and partnerships• Promotes a positive organizational presence in community preparedness initiativesEducation/ExperienceRequired:• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field• 5+ years of experience in emergency management, healthcare operations, or related discipline• 3+ years of leadership or program management experiencePreferred:• Master's degree• Experience in healthcare accreditation and regulatory compliance• Certification in Emergency Management (CEM) or Healthcare Emergency ManagementUnique Skills• Strong knowledge of healthcare emergency management standards and best practices• Demonstrated leadership and program development experience• Ability to lead during high-stress emergency situations • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, and executive teams• Strong organizational and documentation management skillPrimary LocationBurnet CampusScheduleFull timeShiftDay (United States of America)DepartmentBuilding MaintenanceEmployee StatusRegularFTE1Weekly Hours40*Expected Starting Pay Range*Annualized pay may vary based on FTE status$100,526.40 - $130,686.40About UsAt Cincinnati Children's, we come to work with one goal: to make children's health better.
