Rail/Transit Engineer Intern - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (Summer 2026)

Requisition ID: 174963Position SummaryPlan, lay-out, install, test and repair all types of construction/mining equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Assure that all construction/mining equipment works efficiently, safely and is in compliance with the company Preventative Maintenance Program.Experience LevelSkilledPrimary Responsibilities and DutiesRead and understand plans and specifications, which includes the Operator's Manuals for equipment repair.Use appropriate hand and power tools to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipmentReceive equipment assigned to the job and document the condition; set this equipment up on a regular service and inspection schedulesOrganize a library of reference material, equipment files, and backlog schedulesEvaluate a timetable to assure certifications such as for cranes and commercial vehiclesAssist equipment operators in effectively using onsite formsAssist the project with the generation of an accurate Equipment planAssure the efficient, clean and safe fueling and oiling of equipmentAssure that equipment leaving the job is Job-ready for the next assignmentDocument with the Off-Hire Report.QualificationsMay require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement toolsRequirementsThe person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawlConstantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditionsWork irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as requiredMay be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffoldsMove and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfacesMust be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environmentMay be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial siteMust have required toolsMay require U.S. Driver LicenseObserve and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as requiredAbility to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testingCompensation Range: $49.52/hr to $53.52/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as licenses/certifications, experience, skillset, and location)Kiewit offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision plans for employees and eligible dependents, paid time off, a voluntary wellness program, an employee assistance program, life insurance, disability insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match.Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
