Full-Time Cosmetology Instructor

Cosmetology Instructor (Full-time, Tenure Track) Highland Community College, located in the scenic northwest corner of Illinois, is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position for the Fall 2026 semester This position will deliver high-quality instruction in cosmetology courses and support student development in both classroom and practical settings. Key ResponsibilitiesTeach a variety of cosmetology courses offered by the collegeProvide classroom and hands-on instruction to studentsPrepare lesson plans and instructional materialsEvaluate student performance and provide feedbackMaintain a safe and effective learning environmentCollaborate with faculty and staff to support program success Qualifications Required:Valid Illinois Cosmetology LicenseCosmetology Instructors LicenseAbility and willingness to teach the full cosmetology curriculum Preferred:Prior teaching experience2+ years of professional salon experienceProfessional experience or instructional background in Nail Technology strongly preferred Skills & CompetenciesStrong communication and instructional skillsAbility to engage and motivate studentsOrganization and time management skillsKnowledge of current cosmetology practices and standards Work Environment / ScheduleWork schedule: Up to 40 hours per weekHours: Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.Work hours may vary based on scheduling needs Why Join Highland Community College?Work in a collaborative and student-centered academic environment.Play a meaningful role in helping students achieve their educational and career goals.Become a valued member of a campus community that is committed to shaping the future of our communities by providing quality education and learning opportunities.
