Job Summary:The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, trauma, or emergent medical conditions. This role involves rapid assessment, stabilization, treatment, and coordination of care while collaborating with physicians, ancillary staff, and interdisciplinary teams. The ED RN actively participates in patient and family education and upholds professional nursing standards in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct emergency nursing care, including triage, rapid assessment, stabilization, and intervention for critically ill and injured patients.Prioritize patient care based on established triage guidelines, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.Administer medications, IV therapy, and life-saving interventions, including initiating ACLS/PALS protocols when necessary.Monitor patient conditions, recognize signs of deterioration, and communicate changes to physicians promptly.Collaborate with physicians, EMS, and healthcare teams to coordinate patient treatment and facilitate safe transfers or discharges.Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment, discharge instructions, and follow-up care needs.Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic and paper records.Adhere to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and nursing best practices to ensure patient and staff safety.Assist in onboarding new staff, providing mentorship, and ensuring competency in emergency nursing skills.Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training, stroke certification CEUs, and quality improvement initiatives.Qualifications:Licensure: Active NYS RN license.Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) required.Experience: Prior emergency or critical care nursing experience preferred.Skills & Competencies:Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making skills.Proficiency in emergency procedures, including triage, resuscitation, and trauma care.Effective communication and teamwork in a high-pressure environment.Ability to remain calm, focused, and efficient in emergency situations.Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.Final Statement:
