CNC MachinistNew Hudson, MIFull-Time | Temp-to-Hire (30-Day Conversion Potential)Job OverviewWe are seeking a Skilled CNC Machinist with strong manual lathe and setup experience to join a small, team-oriented machining job shop. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, with the ability to go direct in as little as 30 days based on performance and progression.This role is not an operator position - we are specifically looking for machinists who can independently set up machines, perform tool changes, and run jobs with minimal supervision.Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & OperationPerform full or partial setups on CNC and manual lathes (primary focus)Execute frequent tool changes and insert adjustmentsOperate machining equipment, including manual lathes, CNC lathes, and millsLoad and run parts while monitoring quality and outputMaintain efficient production flow in a job shop environmentProduction & QualityWork primarily with aluminum and some steel componentsRead and interpret blueprints and work instructionsInspect parts using standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)Ensure finished parts meet required tolerances and quality standardsShop & SafetyMaintain a clean and organized work areaFollow all safety procedures and PPE requirementsSupport a collaborative, team-focused environmentWhat We're Looking For3+ years of machining experience (5+ preferred)Strong experience with manual lathes (REQUIRED)Proven ability to perform machine setups and tool changes independentlyAbility to read blueprints and verify tolerancesReliable, self-motivated, and able to work without constant supervisionComfortable working in a small team environment (3-4 machinists)Nice to Have (Not Required)Experience with MastercamExposure to CNC mills and automated lathesExperience in job shop or custom machining environmentsNot a Fit If:You are strictly a CNC operator (no setup experience)You require step-by-step supervision to run jobsScheduleMonday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PMFriday: Half-day (overtime opportunity)No weekendsPay & Benefits$28.00 - $38.00/hour (based on experience)Overtime available on FridaysOpportunity to convert to direct hire in as little as 30 daysClimate-controlled shop (heated & air-conditioned)Additional RequirementsMust be able to pass a drug screen and background checkWhy This Role?Small, tight-knit machining team (not a large production floor)Clean, climate-controlled environmentConsistent work on precision components like rollers and bearingsFast path to permanent hire for the right candidateStable hours with no weekend workApply today if you're a hands-on machinist who can set up, run, and own your work.
