Job Description
Lead Video Storytelling and Production
Develop, direct, film and edit high quality video projects that capture the student experience and advances the Student Life mission through projects to be featured on web, digital, social and other platforms
Oversee and coordinate all stages of production including concept development, location scouting, storyboarding, scriptwriting, pre-production, filming, lighting, post-production editing and delivery
Ensure projects align with divisional goals, university brand standards and ADA compliance standards
Creative Strategy and Content Development
Collaborate with department leadership to identify goals and coordinate with stakeholders to translate them into creative video projects
Establish visual direction and assist in shaping the brand voice and storytelling tone
Develop content strategies for multiple platforms to maximize impact and engagement
Research and apply emerging video, digital storytelling and social media trends
Recommend and implement new approaches to keep Student Life content engaging
Monitor peer institution and industry leaders for best practices
Regularly communicate with stakeholders on the planning and execution of photo requests
Digital Asset, Equipment & Risk Management
Maintain a secure and organized digital asset management system
Oversee equipment inventory and maintenance schedule
Ensure all cameras, lighting, rigs and related gear are in working order and meet production standards
Maintain safe working environments during all shoots
Anticipate and mitigate risks related to multimedia production
Create and provide user training for system use as needed
Multimedia Leadership & Training
Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate a multimedia team, including student staff
Responsible for the administrative functions related to employee management (e.g. time approvals)
Responsible for developing, maintaining, disseminating and enforcing policies, procedures, and guidelines for areas of responsibility
Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and university policies, guidelines and other relevant regulations
Analyze, generate and review processes and procedures for areas of responsibility and make recommendations based on findings
Coordinate schedules and resources for multimedia projects
Manage time and resource allocation to align with divisional priorities
Foster a culture of creativity, accountability and professional growth
Expected Salary

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred
Knowledge
Demonstrate experience in camera operation with foundational knowledge of light, audio and composition principles
Demonstrate proficiency in video editing and post-production with expert-level skill in Adobe Premiere Pro and working familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop and related Creative Cloud program
Skills
Expertise in multiple lighting set-ups including studio, location and event
Demonstrate excellent collaboration, planning, organization and communication (verbal and written) skills
Demonstrated interpersonal and professional skills
Abilities
Strong visual storytelling ability with proven understanding of pace, mood and narrative that captivates and creates strong emotional connections with target audiences
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment
Understanding of social media and content strategy related to short-form video and audience engagement
