Driver PositionGift of Hope is proud to serve as the federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides compassionate service to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.Since our inception in 1986, we have coordinated donations that have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients, and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients. Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.Provide safe and timely emergency and non-emergency ground transportation for organ and tissue recovery departmentsTransport internal and external staff to and from hospitals, airports and/or other facilitiesTransport human organs, blood, and tissue samplesDeliver clinical supplies and equipmentWork assigned schedule to provide 24-hour department coverageKeep all Gift of Hope vehicles clean and in proper working conditionComplete and document maintenance checks on delivery vehicles and notify supervisor of any issuesInteract with internal and external customers in a professional mannerCommunicate and dispatch external partners, as neededMaintain thorough logs to track routes and deliveriesUse route navigation apps and knowledge of area to complete deliveries on timePerform and document safety checks for each vehicleAssist with property related duties, as needed, such as:Conduct building security and safety toursMonitor facility and equipment alarmsLight maintenance of facilities and equipmentRestock building suppliesAssist with deliveries and trash removalLight landscaping and snow removalOther duties as assignedQualificationsThe following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.High school diploma or GED equivalentThe following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.Must be at least 25 years of agePossession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving recordAbility to communicate and interact effectively with othersAbility to learn and perform all transportation, property, and security related dutiesAbility to learn and utilize computer applications necessary for job performanceAttention to detailThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
