Social Media Manager

Social plays a critical role in that ambition.We are looking for a Social Media Manager to shape Mercury’s voice within the tech and founder ecosystem. This person will build platform-native strategies, identify meaningful cultural moments to participate in, and serve as the internal authority on what belongs online.This role sits within the Community team and works at the intersection of brand, product, customer experience, and growth. You will lead Mercury’s presence on X and Reddit while partnering closely with the Community Manager overseeing LinkedIn and Instagram. You will guide participation across channels and help ensure that some of Mercury’s most visible public surfaces reflect the company’s rigor, taste, and intelligence.What you’ll do:Build and own Mercury’s social strategyDevelop platform-native strategies for X and Reddit as Mercury’s primary real-time channelsDefine Mercury’s participation model: when to speak, where to engage, and how to build credibility over timeMaintain broad fluency across the evolving social platform landscape (LinkedIn, IG) to guide strategy and ensure Mercury shows up appropriately across channelsEnsure Mercury shows up with clarity, restraint, and convictionLead integrated campaign and launch rolloutsTranslate marketing campaigns and product launches into platform-native social strategiesPartner with Brand, Product Marketing, Comms, CX, and Community to ensure cohesive storytellingBuild rollout frameworks connecting social to editorial, partnerships, and IRL activationsIdentify opportunities to extend campaigns into meaningful conversationServe as Mercury’s cultural radarMonitor cultural discourse, internet behavior, and platform-native trendsTrack moments relevant to founders, operators, and buildersIdentify opportunities for Mercury to participate with relevance and credibilityAdvise leadership on real-time participation and reputational riskEstablish Mercury’s voice in the tech & founder ecosystemMaintain a deep understanding of the startup, venture, fintech, and AI landscapeTrack conversations and sentiment across hubs including San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, and AustinEngage in discussions with founders, operators, and investorsEnsure Mercury’s voice resonates with ambitious buildersLead CX–Social coordinationPartner with Customer Experience to create seamless social response workflowsMonitor sentiment, questions, and friction surfaced via social channelsEnsure insights inform product, CX, and messaging improvementsProvide governance and internal guidanceAct as the internal voice of reason for social participationEstablish best practices for social engagement across teamsBuild playbooks for launches, announcements, and reactive momentsProtect long-term brand equity while enabling timely participationMeasure What MattersDefine success metrics beyond vanity engagementTrack sentiment, relevance, and share of voice in founder conversationsContinuously refine strategy based on performance and cultural shiftsWhat Success Looks LikeMercury is recognized as a credible, intelligent voice in founder and tech conversationsSocial participation feels intentional, not reactiveMercury contributes meaningfully to cultural and industry momentsSocial insights influence product, messaging, and campaignsPlatform presence compounds trust and recognition over timeWe think you’ll thrive in this role if you:Have 5+ years managing social strategy for a brand with a strong point of viewUnderstand how credibility is built on X and RedditAre deeply fluent in startup, SaaS, fintech, and AI ecosystemsPossess exceptional judgment and tasteKnow the difference between cultural relevance and trend chasingCan translate complex ideas into clear, platform-native communicationBalance strategic thinking with hands-on executionAre comfortable advising leadership and pushing back when neededStay calm and precise in fast-moving, real-time environmentsThis role is ideal for someone who:Treats social as a strategic discipline, not a content treadmillUnderstands that credibility is built through consistency and restraintBelieves cultural fluency comes from curiosity and participationWants to help build a brand the internet respectsThe total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $128,600 - $144,600US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $115,700 - $130,100Canadian employees (any location): 121,500 - 136,700 CADMercury values diversity & belonging and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
