We use storytelling, media, and outreach to amplify the voices and creativity of the children we serve while increasing awareness of our mission.Position OverviewThe Communications Manager oversees the execution of A Free Bird's communications strategy across digital and traditional platforms. This role works closely with the Communications Director to implement initiatives, manage team members, and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.You will lead day-to-day communications efforts while supporting content development, public relations, and internal alignment across departments.ResponsibilitiesSupport the development and execution of communications strategies and campaignsManage and oversee Communications Coordinators, Associates, and AssistantsEnsure consistency in messaging, tone, and brand voice across all platformsCollaborate with Marketing, PR, and Multimedia teams on campaigns and initiativesReview and edit content including emails, newsletters, blogs, and press materialsMonitor communication performance and suggest improvementsAssist in developing internal communication processes and workflowsSupport volunteer engagement and team coordination within the departmentEnsure all communications align with organizational goals and compliance standardsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field3–5+ years of experience in communications, PR, or related fieldPrevious experience managing or leading a team preferredStrong writing, editing, and strategic communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesStrong organizational and leadership skillsFamiliarity with digital communication tools and platformsAbility to work independently in a remote environmentAdditional InformationFully remote positionFlexible scheduleMinimum 3–6 month commitment requiredMust have access to a computer and reliable internetAvailability for periodic virtual meetingsHow to ApplyPlease send your resume and a brief statement of interest to hr@afreebird.org with the subject line:Communications Manager Application – A Free Bird
