HCLTech is looking for a highly talented and self- motivated Thermal Testing Engineer to join it in advancing the technological world through innovation and creativity.Job Title: Thermal Testing EngineerJob ID: Position Type: Full-time with HCLTechLocation: Austin, Texas, United States Role/Responsibilities B.S. in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field3+ years of experience in thermal testing or thermal characterization of electronic hardwareHands-on experience with thermal measurement instruments (thermocouples, IR cameras, heat flux sensors, DAQ systems)Familiar with cold plate and heatsink testingProficiency in data analysis and scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar)Understanding of heat transfer fundamentals (conduction, convection, radiation) and their application to electronics coolingExperience with thermal interface materials (TIMs) characterization and testingStrong lab skills with attention to detail and measurement accuracyDesign and develop thermal test plans, procedures, and methodologies for AI hardware (chips, modules, heatsinks, boards, and systems)Set up and execute thermal characterization and validation tests in lab environments, including steady-state and transient thermal testingInstrument test setups with thermocouples, thermal imaging (IR cameras), power analyzers, airflow measurement tools, and data acquisition systemsOperate the thermal testing instruments, including Long win liquid cooling tester, wind tunnels, and environmental chambersPerform the thermal interface material testing and survey and come up the comparison among different thermal interface materialsConduct the thermal testing on cold plate and TTVs, generate the PQ and RQ curvesPerform thermal resistance (Rjc, Rja, Rjb) measurements and junction temperature characterizationConduct thermal cycling, burn-in, and stress testing to validate reliability under various operating conditionsDevelop and maintain automated test scripts and data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, or equivalent)Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to debug thermal issues and drive design improvementsDocument test results, generate reports, and present findings to HW thermal and mechanical engineersSupport development of thermal test infrastructure, including custom fixturesContribute to the definition of thermal specifications and acceptance criteria for new productsPay and BenefitsPay Range Minimum: $58.00 per hour Pay Range Maximum: $66.00 per hourHCL is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, religion, sex, color, age, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, physical disability or genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with federal, state, and/or local law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
