Cost Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Lowell, Massachusetts. In this role, you will analyze financial data related to production, inventory, and operations to ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and profitability of our organization by providing insightful financial analysis and recommendations.Responsibilities:- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to verify the accuracy of inventory and production data, resolving discrepancies as needed.- Conduct detailed analysis of inventory and cost transactions, ensuring proper allocation to projects and departments.- Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.- Generate comprehensive financial reports that include expense breakdowns, project cost forecasts, and efficiency improvement opportunities.- Execute month-end closing activities, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.- Provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions to enhance operational and financial performance.- Review and analyze bills of material to maintain accurate product and standard costs, suggesting updates when necessary.- Calculate and update actual overhead rates for cost centers based on budget projections.- Forecast and record variable costs, including raw material purchases, labor, and operational expenses.- Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the accounting function. Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.- Proficiency in manufacturing cost accounting practices and standard cost accounting methodologies.- Strong skills in cost analysis and the ability to interpret complex financial data.- Experience with inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.- Familiarity with calculating and allocating overhead rates.- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve organizational goals.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and implement cost-effective solutions.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
