Job Title: Staff Accountant ILocation: Urbandale, IA (Meredith)Duration: Contract through December 31, 2026Work Schedule: Hybrid – onsite 3 days per week for the first 4 weeks, then 1–2 days per week thereafterOverviewWe are seeking a Staff Accountant I to join our General Accounting team. This is an entry-level, individual contributor role working under close supervision, providing accounting support across various functions within Controllership. The ideal candidate will have foundational accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide accounting support across areas such as Accounts Receivable, cash reconciliation, Cash Control, Fiduciary, and General LedgerPrepare journal entries, payments, billing, and administrative accounting reportsMaintain and analyze general ledger accounts and client/insured recordsAssist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timelinessPerform variance and trend analysis against forecast, budget, and prior yearCoordinate revenue and expense accrualsApply funds and process refunds to insured/client recordsRequest and process payments for carriers and third partiesPrepare and analyze accounting reports and consolidated statementsPresent findings to internal stakeholders, including senior management or partners, as neededSupport the development, implementation, and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and process improvementsVerify work and provide guidance to less experienced team members or offshore staffEnsure compliance with corporate policies, SOX, SSAE16, GAAP, tax regulations, and other applicable financial standardsParticipate in additional accounting-related duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience)Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practicesFamiliarity with general ledger accounting and financial reportingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
