Job SummaryThe Tortuga Café Food & Beverage Specialist plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Tortuga Café. This position requires the Specialist to manage a customers' orders from start to finish while maintaining a presentable and positive appearance given the open nature of the kitchen.The ideal candidate will possess a passion for service, the ability to learn food notes and prepare dishes to standard, strong math skills for cash handling, and the ability to upsell menu items effectively.DutiesConducts all opening and closing (Opens and closes cash tills, kitchen cleaning, etc.)Greet customers warmly and take ordersOperate POS register for food andHandle cash transactions accurately, ensuring proper change isPrepare food and beverages according to established recipes andMaintain cleanliness and sanitation of the snack bar area in compliance with healthClean and restock foods, beverages, condiments, and otherWashes and dries dishes, glasses, and other cooking/food prepAssist with inventory management, including restocking supplies asUtilize basic math skills to perform retail math calculations forUpsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increaseHelp customers by answering questions about items from the menu and makingRequired Skills, Knowledge, and ExperiencePrevious experience in food service or hospitalityPrevious experience as a barista isFamiliarity with food handling practices and sanitation standards is aStrong math skills, including basic math and retail math, are essential for cash handlingKnowledge of food preparation techniques isA friendly demeanor with excellent communication skills to help create a positive atmosphere forGood organizational and time managementAbout UsFounded in 1983, Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a leading cultural attraction in South Florida that provides open access to all guests.
