The Soufan CenterThe Soufan Center (TSC) is an independent non-profit center offering research, analysis, and strategic dialogue on global security challenges and foreign policy issues, with a particular focus on counterterrorism, violent extremism, armed conflict, and the rule of law. TSC fills a niche role by producing objective and innovative reports and analyses, and fostering dynamic dialogue and exchanges, to effectively equip governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society with key resources to inform policies and practice.Position OverviewJob Title: Event VolunteerLocation: New York City, NY (In-Person Required)Dates: June 15 – September 10, 2026Position Type: Up to 20 hours per weekStipend: A stipend of $1,000 will be provided at the conclusion of the volunteer period to help offset expenses. This stipend is not tied to hours worked and does not constitute wages or an employment relationship.Description: TSC is seeking a motivated Event Volunteer to join our team for Summer 2026. Working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, the volunteer will assist across various aspects of high-profile international event planning, including speaker coordination, logistics, and delegate management. This role supports the planning and execution of two flagship events:The Global Summit on Terrorism and Political Violence — September 9–10, 2026, New York CityThe Global Security Forum (GSF) — October 2026, Doha, QatarVolunteers will work alongside TSC staff and gain exposure to event coordination and high-level discussions on foreign policy and global security issues. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport staff in end-to-end event planning for the Global Summit on Terrorism and Political Violence and the Global Security ForumAssist in managing and tracking speaker and delegate correspondence, confirmations, and logisticsGain hands-on experience with event registration and delegate management platforms, including CventAssist with attendee registration workflows, including data entry, badging, and on-site check-in supportSupply support with TSC's social media presence on platforms including X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram on an as-needed basis.Coordinate with internal teams and external partnersSupport outreach and coordination with speakers and participantsBuild familiarity with TSC's network of global security experts, practitioners, and partner organizationsProvide on-site support for the Global Summit on Terrorism and Political Violence, taking place in New York City on September 9th and 10thRequirementsCurrently enrolled in or recently completed a Master's degree program (or equivalent experience) Must be in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent)Must be authorized to volunteer in the United StatesMust speak, read, and write English at full professional proficiencyAvailability to be present in-person in New York CityStrong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneouslyProfessional written and verbal communication skillsDesired QualificationsPrior experience in event planning, conference coordination, or a related fieldFamiliarity with Cvent or similar event management and registration softwareExperience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) at an intermediate to advanced levelComfortable working in a fast-paced environmentDiscretion and professionalism when engaging with senior officials, diplomats, and other high-profile participantsHow to ApplyTSC will accept applications until May 25, 2026.
