Software Developer, Investment SystemsOur client, a well-established investment management firm in Houston, is seeking a software developer to help build and support the technology behind their investment platform. This role blends backend development with financial data work, contributing to systems that support portfolio management, performance reporting, and risk analysis, all while working closely with investment and operations teams.ResponsibilitiesDesign and maintain systems that support investment and portfolio management functionsBuild and support applications tied to performance reporting and risk analyticsDevelop tools and pipelines for processing market and pricing data using PythonBuild backend services and APIs supporting core investment workflowsEnsure data remains accurate, consistent, and traceable across systemsWork with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutionsTroubleshoot data and system issues, including reconciliation and performance concernsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to technical standardsFollow secure development practices suited to a business critical environmentExplore ways to bring modern data and automation techniques into existing systemsDesign and maintain SQL Server database structures supporting financial and historical dataWrite and optimize queries supporting reporting and analytics needsRequirementsBachelor's degree in a technical field with several years of professional development experienceStrong backend development skills using C# within the .NET Framework ecosystemProfessional experience using Python for data processing or workflow automationStrong relational database experience, including schema design and query optimizationExposure to financial, transactional, or time-based data setsSolid understanding of clean code principles and maintainable designComfortable using Git in a team development environmentHigh attention to detail, especially around data quality and accuracyStrong communication skills across technical and business audiencesAbility to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentGenuine interest in financial markets and a desire to grow technical skills over timePreferredBackground in investment management, wealth management, or a related financial environmentFamiliarity with investment concepts such as positions, trades, performance, or valuationsExperience supporting systems used by front office or investment professionalsAI/ML experience is a plusExposure to integrating data from outside vendors or providersExperience working in a secure Azure enterprise environmentFamiliarity with automated or scheduled data processingExposure to containerization or CI/CD pipelinesExperience with Pandas or basic machine learning conceptsDo not apply unless you are authorized to work in the United States for any employer as client company cannot sponsor or transfer visas at this time.Walker Elliott is an Equal Opportunity Employer.For additional information, please email your resume to resumes@walker-elliott.com or apply online.
