Full-Time Employed Biomedical Faculty (Primary Care Department) - July 6, 2026
The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking experienced biomedical (basic science) faculty candidates with a background in preclinical medical education to join the Department of Primary Care. Candidates having earned a PhD in a biomedical science or DO/MD with preclinical education experience will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates with significant full-time preclinical medical education experience to join our faculty team. This is an in-person, full-time (5 day a week) position. Candidates with experience or the ability to demonstrate interest in integrating the biomedical sciences into an innovative case-based, clinically oriented, system-based preclinical curriculum will be considered. Knowledge and experience in Problem-Based, Case-based or Team-Based Learning are highly desirable.Candidates must be willing and able to contribute beyond a single discipline. Faculty members are integral to the preclinical curriculum development and delivery. Please note that this is not a traditional teaching position. The curriculum features principles of self-directed learning, flipped classroom, minimal traditional lectures, spaced and spiraled learning. All candidates are expected to become proficient facilitators and participate in the Case-Based Learning program, the cornerstone of our curriculum. Candidates will participate in Clinical Skills, OSCE, OMM labs and Simulation Courses, and Anatomy lab as appropriate.Interested candidates are encouraged to explore https://ocom.org and review the current curricular approach at https://ocom.org/curriculum .Start Date:July 6, 2026POSITION DESCRIPTION: The OCOM faculty member is a non-tenured position responsible for the education in predoctoral didactic, clinical educational programs, and graduate medical education programs. Faculty will participate as Facilitators in student facing labs including: Anatomy Lab, CBL, Learning Consolidation, Clinical Skills, OSCE and Simulation courses.RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a facilitator in Virtual (non-cadaveric) Anatomy Lab, case based learning, learning consolidation, clinical skills, OSCE and simulation coursesDevelop and direct student directed learning and/or course material taught by the Department, Course or LabServe the academic activities of the Department in teaching medical student, performing scholarly activities, and serviceWork, as assigned by department chair, with OCOM support staffFacilitate/Teach in any assigned courses or act as a course director, if assignedParticipate in courses/lectures/workshops to meet the curricular needs of the departmentParticipate in the educational activities to include course structure and content, course preparation, written course materials, lecture (if appropriate), workshop and lab presentations, course quizzes, exams and practicals, course evaluations and course faculty evaluationsParticipate in student mentoring in preparation for examinations including licensing board exams as well as coaching unmatched studentsExchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion. The faculty member possesses excellent oral and written communication skillsTeach medical students in all four years, residents, and physicians, as assignedTime AllocationThis job requires the individual to commit to 5 days on campus each week.RequirementsPhD in a biomedical science.
