Carteret Community College (Morehead City, NC) is accepting applications for the Chair of Emergency Medical Science position. The Chair will provide leadership and fulfill administrative, instructional, and management duties for the Emergency Medical Science program.Position is open until filled. A resume and cover letter are also helpful.Full link to the job posting and application is: https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/carteretcc/jobs/5254275/chair-emergency-medical-science?pagetype=jobOpportunitiesJobsSalary commensurate with education and experience.Provide leadership, vision, planning, and supervision for the Emergency Medical Science (EMS) curriculum and continuing education programs.Administer the program as mandated by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.Ensure program compliance with Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions standards.Promote a safe environment conducive to learning and maintain high standards in all programs and courses, in accordance with academic policies and procedures.Oversee and participate in recruitment, selective admissions, enrollment, advising, and retention development strategies, including program faculty participation in the MAPS Center.Plan and deliver instruction according to the Faculty Workload Policy.Provide leadership in course development, scheduling, and classroom management.Assist faculty in establishing and executing student learning and program outcomes and assess related data for continuous improvement of student success.Collaborate with secondary and university partners to facilitate student access, progression, and completion of EMS career pathways.Collaborate with industry partners to ensure the program addresses service area needs, including current and future needs.Direct the development and administration of the departmental budget, including personnel and physical resources.Manage the hiring, credentialing, orientation, and evaluation of full and part-time faculty.Provide program representation at Health Sciences Division meetings and related division activities.Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned.Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.Provide program representation at Health Sciences Division meetings and related division activities.Perform other duties as assignedEducation: Bachelor's degree in the discipline or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Preferred: Master's degreeKnowledge and Skills:EMS:Teaching and administrative experience leading to this level of responsibility.Demonstration of skills in the areas of: communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities;ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others;demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment;display respect for social, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual diversityExperience with CoAEMSP accreditation standardsExperience with medical simulation and related equipmentExperiential Learning Coordinator:Two years of experience conducting healthcare simulation-based learning in an educational setting.Proficiency in the use of audio/video equipment,working knowledge of standard medical equipment (IV pumps, ventilators, etc.)ability to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot a variety of patient simulators and task trainers (CAE, Gaumard, Laerdal).Licensing Requirement:North Carolina Certified Paramedic required with National (NRP) Certification preferred3 years of field experienceCredentialed Level II Paramedic InstructorAHA BLS, ACLS andPALS Instructor CredentialPHTLS or ITLS Instructor CredentialAMLS Instructor CredentialThe candidate must have the ability to meet the essential cognitive, sensory, affective, and psychomotor performance requirements and functions. Most work is carried out in a standard heated and air-conditioned environment in a public area. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
