HX5 is currently seeking a LabVIEW Software Engineer to join the team with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The LabVIEW Software Engineer will: Design and implement software for design, development, test, and certification of flight hardware Gather and analyze requirements Design and develop data acquisition systems for test rigs Test and debug software issues Coordinate test activities and requirements with NASA test facilities Support test setup and execution Develop testing and operations documentation Coordinate software development with other disciplines Participate in multi-disciplinary technical reviews Perform other duties as required Education and Experience Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Experience with data acquisition and processing Experience with NI LabVIEW for system control, system test, data storage and analysis Experience with CompactRIO RT/FPGA platform Experience with LabVIEW object Oriented Programming (LVOOP) Experience with Git for source code control Experience with C/C++ coding in a Linux environment Experience with scripting languages such as Python Preferences Familiarity with NASA/JSC organizations, processes, and procedures Prior experience with spaceflight system development Experience with system interface requirements Experience with common communication protocols (RS232, RS422/485, 1553, USB). Knowledge of web application frameworks such as ASP.NET Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position and offers a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off). Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Equipment and Machines - Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Physical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). Other Position Requirements: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
