Staff Archaeologist
DescriptionLocation: Alexandria, MN (preferred) - consideration may be given to other office locations. Candidates should be willing to work on-site to support collaboration, teamwork, and knowledge sharing.Widseth is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Archaeologist to support both office-based and field projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. If you are passionate about archaeology and cultural resource management, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your career.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineers, project managers, and right-of-way specialists to address environmental and cultural resource considerations.Coordinate with federal and state agencies to ensure compliance with permitting requirements.Conduct a range of field activities, including:Archaeological surveysTesting and excavationSurface collectionMonitoringPrepare archaeological proposals and technical reports, including Phase I/Class I documentation.Provide professional cultural resource recommendations to support project planning.Plan, organize, and lead Phase III/Class III field projects of varying sizes across multiple states.QualificationsMaster's degree in Archaeology or a related field.Archaeological field experience preferred.Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online for fieldwork and data management.Experience with federal and state cultural resource permitting.Familiarity with GPS equipment.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Work EnvironmentThis position requires:Working outdoors in remote locations for extended periods.Navigating rugged terrain in varying weather conditions.Maintaining strong awareness of workplace safety.Working independently or with minimal supervision when appropriate.What We OfferGrowth Opportunities* Specialized training in design, leadership, and business development* Career advancement through continuing education, licensure, certification, and technical developmentCompensation & BenefitsWidseth offers competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications, including:Salary range: $75,000 to $95,000 (depending on experience)Discretionary annual profit-sharing bonusesHealth insurance and Health Savings Account (HSA) optionsFlexible benefitsDental and vision coverageLife insuranceShort- and long-term disability insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysProfessional development and continuing education supportAll offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check meeting company standards.Widseth is an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
