Litigation Paralegal

Litigation Paralegal – Richmond, VASands Anderson is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, technology savvy Litigation Paralegal to join our downtown Richmond office. This position provides substantive support to attorneys through all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate has fully developed litigation skills and the proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional client service.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesDraft, proofread, edit, and cite-check discovery, pleadings, motions, orders, exhibits, and appellate filingsManage e-discovery and support all phases of litigation, including trial preparation (depositions, mediation, exhibits, briefs, indexes, appendices witness list preparation, jury research) and post-trial proceduresElectronically file documents with state agencies and municipal, state, and federal courtsConduct legal research using internal and external databases and summarize findings for attorneysAnalyze and monitor case law, legal policies, and legal trends impacting clientsOrganize and maintain electronic and paper case files using the firm’s document management systemsCommunicate with clients, consultants, experts, opposing counsel, and third parties at the direction of attorneysMaintain familiarity with court rules, administrative agency procedures, and filing requirementsPerform administrative and case management tasksSkills and QualificationsFully developed litigation skillsAdvanced written and verbal communication skillsStrong ethical standards and the ability to maintain strict confidentialityWorking knowledge of e-discovery platforms and litigation technologyAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams preferred)Advanced PDF skills, including Bates labeling, combining/splitting, optimization, and file managementAbility to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies including AIStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex legal informationExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities effectivelyPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree3–6 years of experience in a litigation environmentExperience with state administrative law and agenciesExperience with electronic document management systems (e.g., NetDocuments, iManage, SharePoint)Experience with online legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, PACER)E-filing experience requiredAdditional RequirementsExcellent client service skillsAbility to work a standard schedule of 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.Strong professionalism, reliability, adaptability and interpersonal skillsAbility to travel and work overtime as business needs dictateSands Anderson PC is an equal opportunity employer.
