Project Leader – Operations
Reports To: Director of OperationsJob SummaryThe Project Leader – Operations is responsible for driving high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across manufacturing, logistics, and distribution networks. This role leads projects end-to-end—from concept through execution—ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives.With a strong emphasis on timeline integrity, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence, the Project Leader leverages advanced analytics, visualization tools, and structured project methodologies to identify risks, optimize performance, and deliver measurable business outcomes.Reporting directly to the Director of Operations Manager, this role acts as a key connector between operations, engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Execution & DeliveryLead strategic initiatives such as:Plant consolidations and capacity expansionsNew customer/product launchesDistribution center design, construction, or retrofitAutomation and technology implementationsDefine project scope, objectives, risks, and deliverables through formal project chartersManage full project lifecycle: planning, execution, monitoring, and post-mortem analysisEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined specificationsSchedule & Performance ManagementBuild and manage detailed project schedules, including Gantt charts and critical path analysisMonitor milestones and proactively identify risks or delaysDrive accountability across cross-functional teams without direct authorityDevelop and execute recovery plans when timelines are at riskManage project dependencies and resource allocationOperational Excellence & Continuous ImprovementIdentify and implement process improvements across:Manufacturing operationsWarehousing and distributionTransportation and logisticsConduct process mapping and eliminate non-value-added activitiesAnalyze flow of goods and optimize layouts, capacity, and efficiencyAct as a subject matter expert (SME) for continuous improvement initiativesData Analytics & VisualizationDevelop automated dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or ExcelTranslate complex operational data into clear, actionable insights for leadershipTrack KPIs and measure project performance against business casesLeverage AI tools and modern software to streamline reporting and workflow trackingFinancial & Business Case DevelopmentBuild business cases including cost-benefit analysis, ROI, and risk assessmentSupport CAPEX planning, budgeting, and financial trackingEnsure financial discipline and alignment with approved fundingStakeholder Management & CommunicationCollaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, and external partnersLead cross-functional project teams and facilitate alignmentCommunicate project status, risks, and outcomes to senior leadershipEstablish structured communication plans and reporting mechanismsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in: Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics / Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related analytical field5+ years of experience leading operations or supply chain projectsProven success delivering complex, cross-functional initiativesExperience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environmentsExposure to network optimization, automation, or facility design is an assetSkills & CompetenciesTechnical & AnalyticalStrong understanding of:Project management methodologies and toolsCritical path and schedule modelingSupply chain and operational processesAdvanced data analysis and visualization (Power BI, Tableau, Excel)Experience with ERP, WMS, and AutoCAD (asset)Ability to build KPIs and performance tracking systemsLeadership & BehavioralStrong sense of urgency and accountabilityExcellent problem-solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to influence and drive results without direct authorityClear and effective communicator across all organizational levelsHighly organized with strong time and priority managementAdaptable in fast-paced, evolving environmentsWork EnvironmentFast-paced manufacturing and operational settingFrequent interaction with plant teams, technical staff, and leadershipOccasional travel depending on project requirementsWhy Join UsHigh-impact, visible role with strategic importanceOpportunity to lead transformative operational initiativesCollaborative, growth-focused environmentCompetitive compensation and career advancement opportunities
