Our solutions fall into two broad categories: control products and components.SummaryMason Controls is seeking two motivated and hands-on Operations Interns for a 4-month program beginning June 2026. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in planning, design, fabrication, programming, and project management within a manufacturing environment. Each intern will be assigned specific projects and will be expected to track progress, deliver results, and present their accomplishments at the conclusion of the program.Position DutiesEssential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:Plan, execute, and manage assigned projects from concept through completionCreate project requirement documents and define scope, objectives, and deliverablesTrack progress and provide weekly project status updatesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and manufacturingFollow all shop safety guidelines and best practices while working with equipment and toolsOther duties as assignedCore ProjectsDevelop a program and manufacture a part using a laser machineDesign and 3D print fixtures for laser machine applicationsDesign and build a puller for plastic caps used in jumper coating processesDesign and build Geneva drives and controllers for switch testingDesign and 3D print fixtures with pogo pins for switch testingSupport robot programming in the wire processing cellCreate a training/operational video covering wire processing, programming, and Equipment usageDesign and 3D print custom gripper fingers for a wire processing robotSkills & Learning ObjectivesDuring the internship, participants will gain experience and develop skills in:Project Planning & ManagementCreating project requirement documentsManaging timelines, deliverables, and reporting progressDesign & Fabrication3D modeling and 3D printingHands-on fabrication and prototypingWorking with shop machinery, tools, and safety standardsProgramming & AutomationDeveloping AI-assisted Python or C++ programs for microcontrollersSupporting robotics and automation processesElectronics & TestingBuilding prototype circuits and testing devicesSupporting development of testing fixtures and systemsOperations ExposureUnderstanding manufacturing workflows and process improvementsGaining experience in cross-functional collaborationQualificationsEducation & Experience:Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related fieldBasic knowledge or interest in programming (Python, C++, or similar)Familiarity with CAD and/or 3D printing is preferredStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentStrong communication and organizational skillsPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard / Operate machineryReaches, bends, twistsMay lift up to 25 poundsRegularly perform repetitive tasksSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusOthersThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
