Position DetailsPosition InformationPosition Title Custodian - Youngwood (Regular Part-Time/Evening)(Flexible Schedule)Division Facilities Management & Construction(DIV)Department Facilities & GroundsJob DescriptionThis position is responsible to perform daily cleaning of facilities in accordance with established standards and procedures including setups and minor equipment repair.Essential Job FunctionsPerform daily cleaning of all interior space within an assigned area including changing air filters as needed.Clean all restroom facilities, e.g., sinks, toilets, floors, and walls.Move furniture and transport boxes of College materials as needed.Empty trash and recycling containers.Clean upholstered furniture; clean and polish other furniture and fixtures.Sweep and mop floors.Run mechanical auto scrubber in hallways, corridors, etc.Buff hard surface floors with an electric buffer.Vacuum and shampoo carpets and furniture as needed.Strip and wax floors.Wash walls and windows.Report maintenance repairs, damaged furniture, or other maintenance or safety concerns to the facilities office.Change light bulbs and ceiling tile, and perform monthly equipment safety checks of fire extinguishers [AM], exit lights, and AEDs [PM].Perform set-ups and tear-downs for events prior to or on the day of the event.Fill various dispensers, e.g., restrooms, and lids for coffee cups.Keep equipment clean and in good working order.Order supplies in accordance with established procedures.Other Job FunctionsMaintain the custodial closet in a neat and orderly fashion.Occasionally responsible for exterior work, e.g., snow removal, entrance cleaning, and trash removal.Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices, and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.Maintain and develop work-related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional and cross-training opportunities.Attend all required meetings and training.Perform additional grade-level support duties as assigned.Skills KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Read, comprehend and follow instructions/work orders.Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, including managing multiple projects/tasks concurrently and meet varied deadlines.Identify problems and assist with problem solving.Required Qualifications EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent required.ExperiencePrior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards. LICENSE Valid driver’s license required. VISUAL DEMANDS Use of computer and internet/internet-based systems.Reading and preparing documents, reports, etc. ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Work is primarily conducted in a typical indoor environment with appropriate lighting, noises, and temperature control.Occasional outdoor work as needed.Work with ladders when necessary.Exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
