Our kitchens are where teamwork and care behind the scenes make every great meal possible. As a Dishwasher/Steward at our Compass Hotel, you play a vital role in supporting our culinary and service teams by ensuring dishes, and glassware are cleaned and ready for use at all times. Your attention to cleanliness, safety, and efficiency helps keep our kitchen running smoothly and upholds the high standards our guests expect. Through your work, you contribute directly to a safe, sanitary environment and to the overall guest experience.
What you bring to the table
Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
Provide friendly, courteous service to all guests you encounter, always maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance.
Properly wash, sanitize, and store all silverware, plate ware, glassware, and pots/pans according to Ko-Kwel standards.
Operate and maintain the dish machine and hand-washing equipment safely and correctly.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene procedures to protect guests and team members.
Keep the dish area stocked, organized, and running efficiently throughout the shift.
Remove trash, waste, and recyclable materials promptly to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen.
Complete all assigned opening, running, and closing duties for the dish station.
Assist with sweeping, mopping, cooler detailing, and general cleaning as needed.
Support fellow team members by assisting Line, Prep, and other stations when needed, including cross-training opportunities.
Communicate respectfully and professionally with guests, team members, and managers at all times.
Notify Manager of guest concerns, low inventory, equipment issues, or safety hazards.
Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)

You'll need to be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when we are busy. In this role, you'll I be required to stand for extended periods, and frequently walk, and use hands to; finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. It's important to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure, especially when dealing with stressful situations or upset people.

Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free workplace policies.
High school diploma or GED preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six months to one year of dishwashing or stewarding experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly to support a smooth and safe kitchen operation.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks, and staying organized with minimal supervision.
Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with a reliable and team-focused mindset.
Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with team members, leaders, and other departments.
Current food safety/health permit and alcohol awareness certification, as required by local and state regulations (must be obtained prior to the first day of employment).
Commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace and remaining in compliance with all applicable policies.
