Field Technician (L2) - Data Centers

This role is capable of independently performing installation services with little to no guidance from lead technicians and operates effectively in live, mission-critical data center environments. The Field Technician (L2) also supports quality assurance and quality control processes and provides mentorship to entry-level technicians. Fieldwork may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours. Travel may be required based on business needs.Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesExecute installation services as defined under contractual agreementsPerform installation work to required technical, safety, QA, and QC standardsPerform all installation services required for the role without supervisionEstablish scope, work plans, and procedures with minimal guidance from lead techniciansIdentify, troubleshoot, and restore complex, multi-domain failures across fiber optic and twisted pair systems, including loss of signal, low signal, and interface errorsIdentify and resolve issues independently without escalationSupport QA and QC requirements for assigned workWork effectively in live, operational, mission-critical environmentsTrain and mentor L1 Field Trainee Technicians Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced troubleshooting skills across fiber optic and copper systemsFamiliarity with PON or point-to-multipoint network deployments utilizing simplex fiber and non-standard wavelengthsProficiency in fiber optic testing using OTDR and OLTSCertified in fiber splicingStrong understanding of structured cabling systems, testing methodologies, and documentation requirementsAbility to operate independently while maintaining quality, safety, and customer standards Education and Experience 3 or more years of documented industry experienceDocumented fiber optic testing certification on OTDR and OLTSFiber splicing certification requiredExperience performing work in operational environments and on projects within live mission-critical data centersPossession of all relevant certifications required for the roleHigh School diploma or GED requiredValid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record Physical Requirements Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawlAbility to lift up to 75 poundsAbility to work in all weather conditionsIn addition to competitive base pay, Network Connex offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial health, with eligibility beginning the first of the month following your start date.Benefits include participation in the Vanguard 401(k) plan with immediate vesting and company match, 11 paid company holidays, a generous PTO accrual schedule, and access to discounts on a variety of products and services.EEOC - Minority/Female/Disability/VeteranNetwork Connex is committed to equal employment opportunities and does not discriminate against employees or applicants based on race, color, gender, sexual orientation, domestic partnership status, ancestry, religion, national origin, citizenship status, marital status, disability, veteran status, age, or any other protected status.
