Recreation Attendant (Part-time)
DescriptionAll applications received during the recruitment period will be forwarded to the hiring departmentfor review and considerationafter the Monday, March 30, 2026 closing date.Recreation Attendant: Assists with operational tasks and fieldwork at recreation facilities, including parks, fields, and athletic courts, during activities and events on weeknights and weekends, and as needed.Examples of DutiesAssists with operational tasks and fieldwork at recreation facilities, including parks, fields, and athletic courts, during activities and events on weeknights and weekends, and as needed. Performs opening/closing procedures for parks, fields, and athletic courts.Monitors activities and the conduct of patrons.Enforces rules and regulations to ensure safety, and notifies the proper authorities of violations.Reports needed repairs for facilities and grounds.Addresses public and professional inquiries.Other duties as required.Education & ExperienceHigh School diploma and one to three years directly related experience.Must possess a valid VA Driver’s license.Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes a combination of weeknights and weekends, and as needed.Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instruction.Must be able to follow and enforce rules.Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers. Successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment medical/drug screening. Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough or difficult surfaces; recurring stooping, climbing or walking; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items weighing less than 25 pounds and may require occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds. The work may require specific, but common physical characteristics and abilities such as mobility and dexterity.The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions.
