Linux Engineer
Overview
In this role you will engineer and optimize a global, Linux-based infrastructure powering ultra-low-latency trading systems and high-throughput research. You will manage a massive bare-metal fleet, build automation tools, and drive telemetry and reliability at scale. You collaborate across teams to improve performance, stability, and deployment processes in a mission-critical environment. This is an opportunity to shape how a premier trading firm runs its core systems in production.

ResponsibilitiesLead provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning of a global Linux fleet for reliability and speedDesign and maintain internal automation tools using Python and Bash for thousands of serversDevelop and refine configuration management across diverse workloads including Kubernetes and high-frequency trading platformsEnhance telemetry through monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks for deep Linux performance visibilityDiagnose and resolve kernel and network-level issues in a mission-critical environmentEngage in code reviews and cross-functional architectural discussions
Key requirementsExpert Linux administration at scale on bare-metal hardwareStrong Python development for automation, API design, and debuggingAdvanced experience with configuration management tools (Puppet/Hiera or equivalent)Proven ability to author Ansible playbooks for task automationDeep knowledge of low-level diagnostics (EBPF, tcpdump, strace, systemd)CI/CD pipelines, Git, and RPM package managementSolid understanding of TCP/UDP, Multicast, DNS, and routingBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical fieldcollaborationproblem-solvingattention to detailLinux administration at scale (bare-metal)Python automation and API designPuppet/Hiera or equivalent configuration management
