Ophthalmic Technician
Job Title: Ophthalmic TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless patient experience by greeting and rooming patients, verifying their demographics and insurance details, and documenting their medical and ocular histories. You will perform non-invasive ophthalmic pre-testing and assist with various diagnostic procedures, ensuring that all results and documentation are accurately entered into the electronic health record (EHR).ResponsibilitiesGreet and room patients; verify demographics, insurance details, and chief complaints.Obtain and document patient medical/ocular history, medications list (verification only), allergies, and reason for visit in the EHR.Perform routine non-invasive ophthalmic pre-testing, including visual acuity screening, basic lensometry, confrontation visual fields screening, color vision screening, pupillary response observation and documentation, tonometry, and other practice-approved diagnostics.Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and clean and maintain clinic equipment following infection control guidelines.Provide clear patient instructions before and during testing and escort patients through their visit.Accurately enter test results and supporting documentation into the EHR and communicate findings to the provider.Support scheduling, prior authorizations, referrals, and patient communications as needed.Participate in clinic huddles, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient experience and throughput.Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies. Essential SkillsExperience in medical and healthcare settings.Proficiency in cleaning and prepping rooms.Experience in patient charting and office administration.Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR). Additional Skills & Qualifications6+ months of experience in a medical office setting.No license required. Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is dependent on location, with some offices being extremely busy, while others may operate at a slower pace.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danbury, CT.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $34.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
