Ergonomist

Argonne National Laboratory is in search of an Ergonomist who will be a member of the Health and Employee Wellness team and will assess, design, and implement tailored ergonomic solutions. They will contribute to improving workplace conditions, preventing injuries, and enhancing overall employee satisfaction and productivity. This onsite position will report to Physical Therapy Program Manager and collaborate with safety professionals, management, and staff across the laboratory.Responsibilities:Collaborates with our Physical Therapy team to expand and improve our existing ergonomics initiatives.Observes, analyzes, and documents the movements, activities, and workspace of a group of workers, including in an industrial or laboratory environmentIdentifies the physical and mental demands of a job and evaluates whether they are ergonomically soundMakes recommendations to reduce the potential for injuries or illnesses caused by work, particularly repetitive work, physically demanding work, and work with significant hazardsIdentifies and implements ways to minimize workplace hazards, including proactively identifying new hazards that accompany new research projectsEstablishes good relationships with workers and supervisors to facilitate cooperation with ergonomic best practicesProvides tailored and impactful ergonomic training to employees regularlyTrains a core group of in-the-field ergonomic advocates who can help recognize ergonomic challenges at the time of work and recommend simple solutions when appropriateStays current with industry trends, research, and best practices in ergonomics to continually enhance programs and servicesDevelops and maintains robust metrics on ergonomic solutions' implementation and impactPosition RequirementsAEP - Associate Ergonomics Professional; must complete CPE within three years of hire date.Experience with industrial ergonomic assessmentsDeep understanding of human anatomy, ergonomics, and human factorsFamiliarity with legal regulations and industry best practices related to ergonomicsStrong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret dataExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully engage with a group of stakeholders.Strong writing skills to develop ergonomic reports that include findings and recommendations based on industry standards.Resourceful and creative problem-solving skillsBachelor's degree in a related field, and 4+ years of experienceErgonomics or Human Factors EngineeringApplied PsychologyIndustrial DesignPhysical TherapyOccupational TherapyOccupational Health and SafetyKinesiology* Ability to model Argonne's Core Values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamworkPreferred Skills* National Board Certification (Board Certified Professional Ergonomist)Job FamilyProfessional Technical (PT)Job ProfilePhysical Therapy 3Worker TypeRegularTime TypeFull timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $86,299.00 - $134,626.05.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
