Machine Operation

Overview We are seeking a skilled Rail and Block Grinder Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating specialized grinding machinery to precisely shape and finish rail components and blocks, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various machining tools, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Responsibilities Operate and monitor rail and block grinding machines, including CNC laser cutting, CNC milling, CNC lathe, and other precision grinding equipment. Set up machines according to detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Conduct routine inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy. Perform quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process, identifying defects or deviations from specifications. Adjust machine parameters as needed to optimize performance and maintain consistent product quality. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to machine operation, crane handling, and material handling. Collaborate with fabrication teams on tooling setup, assembly procedures, and troubleshooting machine issues. Utilize hand tools and fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, stamping presses, welding tools, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) devices. Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise machining tasks. Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting processes and suggesting efficiency enhancements. Experience Candidates should have prior experience operating machining equipment within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Specific skills include: Proficiency with CNC programming and operation of CNC laser cutting, milling machines, lathes, plasma cutting tools, and EDM equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal fabrication, tooling setup, welding techniques, and assembly processes. Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Experience with quality inspection procedures ensuring parts meet strict tolerances. Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, hand tools, and other material handling equipment safely. Basic math skills for measurement calculations and process adjustments. Knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols related to grinding operations and machinery maintenance.
