Enterprise Systems Specialist

Description This position is scheduled for telework, but the incumbent will need to travel statewide to support onsite hardware when required. The ideal candidate for the Enterprise Systems Specialist (IT System Administration-Journey) position in the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is a dedicated IT professional who is committed to providing innovative, secure, reliable, and accessible technology solutions. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting the agency’s computer systems, web technologies, network and data communications, and the data warehouse, as well as providing technical assistance for the installation and operations of personal computers and software. As a member of the Enterprise Services (ES) team within the Infrastructure Development unit of ITSD, the candidate will contribute to the successful administration of claimant and employer services within ESD. They will support the development and implementation of improvements to the agency’s software development lifecycle, and high-profile initiatives that impact significant and fundamental public services. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operation, administration, reliability, and integrity of ESD’s mission-critical enterprise client-server, security, and support infrastructure. They will independently work on all levels of the Operating System (OS), messaging, collaboration, endpoint management, web services, cloud services, managed print services, firewall and operational security, enterprise applications, Active Directory, Disaster Recovery/Continuity of Operations (DR/COOP), and other relevant data center technologies, services, tools, and best practices. Duties Responsible for ensuring the day-to-day planning, operation, reliability, and integrity of ESD's enterprise client-server, security, Active Directory, cloud services, managed print services and support systems infrastructure for multiple sites statewide (both physical and virtual) in support of the agency's mission. This includes: Print Services Administrator – This position is responsible for deploying print management and associated services. Responsible for daily administration of the scanning, print management system, print badge system and reporting. Domain Administration for Active Directory – Under the guidance of the Enterprise Services supervisor and lead in accordance with established governance performs daily operation, management and maintenance of enterprise Active Directory and AD enabled services. System and Services Monitoring Tool Operator – As part of the Enterprise Services team under the guidance of the Enterprise Services Supervisor and Lead, in accordance with established governance to devise methods of daily monitoring and alerting solutions. Provide innovative and cost-effective solution recommendations to develop, implement, support, and maintain ESD enterprise infrastructure including client-server systems, operational security, Active Directory, DR/COOP, cloud services and support systems infrastructure. Solutions may be new, existing, in-house, third party or a combination. This includes: Gather requirements, define scope, and collaborate in the development, implementation, and support of new or existing enterprise client-server, security, DR/COOP, cloud services and support systems infrastructure solutions under the established governance and / or direction of the Enterprise Services supervisor and ES Lead. Collaborate with internal and external entities to include agency stakeholders and project teams, Washington Technical Solutions (WaTech), Office of Cyber Security (OCS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and other state and federal entities to ensure proposed and installed systems comply with agency, state, and federal standards. Works as liaison between internal and external groups, vendors, and customers to resolve complex client-server, security, cloud, and support systems problems under the guidance of the Enterprise Services Supervisor and established governance. Serve as a technical expert for continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of IT processes and services by enhancing and maintaining enterprise client- server, security, Active Directory, DR/COOP, cloud, SaaS, support systems hardware, software, and applications. This includes: Provide in-depth knowledge of Enterprise software and associated infrastructure. Develop system administration automation, monitoring and event handling to identify and rapidly resolve faults in systems. Provide in-depth knowledge of endpoint protection and endpoint security software and configuration. Provide in-depth knowledge in scripting. Automate tasks through scripting technologies. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or closely related field and five years IT experience performing position specific duties related to designing, managing, operating, and maintaining enterprise client-server, security, cloud, and support infrastructure OR Associates Degree in Information Technology or closely related field and seven years IT experience performing position specific duties related to designing, managing, operating, and maintaining enterprise client-server, security, cloud, and support infrastructure OR A combination of nine years education and *IT experience. Qualifying years IT experience performing position specific duties related to designing, managing, operating, and maintaining enterprise client-server, security, cloud, and support infrastructure. AND: Five years of experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft (MS) Windows Server operating systems, MS Windows Domain Services, Active Directory Services, and Exchange Electronic Mail Systems as well as the subsystems that support them Five years of experience troubleshooting and enhancing client-server security and configuration management through Group Policy Objectives (GPO) and/or Group Policy Preference (GPP) including the ability to create custom policies. Five years of with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python). Five years of experience with installation, configuration, management and administration of client-server monitoring and logging systems such as SolarWinds, Retina, LogRhythm, ExtraHop, or Cisco Prime Infrastructure Five years of experience with installation, configuration, management, and administration of Linux operating system Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment: Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
