Summary The Development Professional leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive resource development strategies to support Club operations and community impact. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and Development Committee, the Development Professional drives fundraising strategy, monitors progress toward goals, and ensures alignment with organizational priorities. In this role, the Development Professional partners with the Executive Director and Board of Directors—equipping, guiding, and supporting them in cultivation and solicitation of major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. The Development Professional provides leadership and direction to staff, as needed, to advance integrated resource development and marketing efforts KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Leadership Lead all development functions, executing strategic direction to the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure effective fundraising operations that fully fund Club programs and services within the community. Strategic Planning Develop and implement single- and multi-year resource development strategies in partnership with executive leadership and the Board, including: o Researching and analyzing agency, corporate, individual, and foundation donor bases and recommending targeted cultivation and solicitation strategies. o Preparing, presenting, and managing proposals for corporate and foundation support, using current cultivation and solicitation materials. o Designing and implementing direct mail and donor communication programs. o Leading fundraising initiatives such as endowments, major gifts, and planned giving, with support from executive leadership and the Board. Evaluate development performance, using data and outcomes to continuously improve fundraising effectiveness and results. Board Engagement & Development Recruit, train, and equip Board members to actively participate in solicitation and other income development activities. Guide and support Board committees responsible for planning and implementing development initiatives, ensuring clarity of roles, expectations, and accountability. Resource Management Manage development systems and operations, including: o Tracking fundraising revenue and preparing income status and variance reports. o Overseeing donor stewardship through acknowledgment letters and recognition events. Data Management o Maintain and optimize donor/client management software. o Perform donor analysis, segmentation, and reporting to inform strategy. Partnership Development Cultivate strategic relationships with community leaders, local officials, funders, and partner organizations to expand support and collaborative opportunities. Identify, develop, and implement strategies to engage new and prospective donors. Marketing & Public Relations Increase visibility and credibility of Club development efforts through strategic communications and public engagement. Create and distribute fundraising and donor communications, including annual appeals, donor updates, appreciation materials, and public education pieces. Ensure development and distribution of marketing materials that support fundraising goals and brand alignment. Events Lead the planning and execution of special events, including securing sponsorships, soliciting gifts, and overseeing all related materials and publications. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintain regular communication with executive leadership, Board members, staff, and volunteers to share information, provide progress updates, coordinate fundraising activities, and align development efforts with organizational goals. External: Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, funders, business and community leaders, partner organizations, and media representatives to advance fundraising efforts and strengthen community support. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of five years work experience in non-profit agency, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
