Commercial Loan Officer

Loan types will include large and complex real estate loans for both owner-occupied and non-owner-occupied properties. This could also include investment properties, development properties, construction projects, loans with government backing for SBA 7(a) and SBA 504, and loans for business acquisition and lines of credit. The Commercial Loan Officer will be responsible for evaluating loan applicants for credit worthiness and will work with the commercial lending team to process originations and manage the existing portfolio. The position serves as the primary point of contact between the borrower and the Bank. This position must also maintain knowledge of Bank's deposit treasury management, and merchant/banking card products to enhance customer relationships.Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.Minimum RequirementsEducation & ExperienceMinimum of 5 years relevant commercial lending and/or commercial loan underwriting experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in business/finance and 5+ years of experience in commercial lending, commercial real estate lending or commercial loan underwriting. MBA degree preferred.Knowledge & Communications SkillsStrong knowledge of construction and real estate lending practices and principles. Must demonstrate attention to detail, responding promptly to customer needs for service and assistance; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, self-monitoring of work to ensure quality, following prescribed policies and procedures, uses time efficiently, prioritizes and completes work in a timely manner.Show understanding of accounting and finance terms, ratios and analysis used for risk management and repayment assessment. Know how to identify and quantify secondary and tertiary sources of repayment.Communications and interpersonal skills are key to service; must be able to read and interpret written information, listen, and obtain clarification to properly service customers. Proactive information gathering is a must. Strong presentation skills when recommending credit decisions to Executive Management and Board of Directors.Analytical & Decision-Making SkillsAbility to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.Effective organizational and time management skills.Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.Computer/Software/Other Equipment SkillsBasic knowledge of Office365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
