As one of the oldest computer science degree-granting departments in the state of Mississippi and recognized as a top computer science program in the Southeast, we are committed to academic excellence grounded in Christian values.Position DetailsStart Date: August 2026Contract: 12-month tenure-track positionReporting Structure: Reports to the Dean of Science and MathematicsTeaching Load: 9 credit hours per semester with flexibility for compensated overloads as neededKey ResponsibilitiesLeadership and AdministrationProvide strategic leadership and vision for department growth and innovationCollaborate with departmental faculty and cross-campus colleagues to develop cutting-edge programs, including the planned Data Science degree and certificate programsManage departmental operations, budget, and resources effectivelyFoster a collegial environment that integrates academic excellence with Christian principlesLead faculty development, recruitment, and retention initiativesOversee program assessment and continuous improvement effortsTeaching and Academic ExcellenceTeach 9 credit hours per semester across undergraduate and graduate programsDevelop and deliver courses for the university's expanding online programMaintain regular office hours for comprehensive student counseling and academic supportMentor and serve as an academic advisor to departmental students.Integrate faith and learning in pedagogical approachesResearch and Scholarly ActivitySupervise undergraduate and graduate student theses, projects, and research initiativesServe on thesis and project committeesMaintain active scholarly engagement through research, professional development, and industry connectionsSupport and mentor faculty in their scholarly pursuitsPromote undergraduate and graduate student research opportunitiesService and CollaborationParticipate actively in departmental and campus-wide committeesEngage with professional organizations and industry partnersContribute to the broader computer science education communityParticipate actively in departmental professional organizationsSupport the university's mission and Christian identity through serviceRequired QualificationsAcademic CredentialsPh.D. in Computer Science or closely related disciplineDemonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels\Academic credentials commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
