Production Engineer (Senior)

Location: Denver, Colorado or Casper, WyomingReports to: Manager, Production OperationsRole: This position is responsible for maximizing the production and profitability operated producing oil and gas wells. The role will have a strong focus on production optimization, responsible LOE control, and managing company goals as it relates to their area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong EH&S focus, extensive artificial lift knowledge, functional knowledge of oil and gas facilities and strong commitment to continuous improvement. Responsibilities:Daily surveillance of operated oil and gas assets focused on analysis of well performance vs forecast Interact with and influence field production staff ensuring proper daily production data entryIndirect coaching and training of lease operators, artificial lift technicians and other field personnelAssist in asset management planning for assigned area of responsibilityWorkover planning, budgeting, design, cost tracking and execution requiring frequent communication with wellsite supervisionArtificial lift design, optimization and troubleshooting including but not limited to gas lift, plunger assisted gas lift, plunger lift, jet pump, rod pump, and ESPBuild nodal analysis models to evaluate gas lift performance and implement optimization opportunitiesExtensive knowledge of managing production chemical programsActively engage in the design process of surface facilities and support field staff in troubleshooting issues as they ariseReview and write technical reports for engineering and management personnelProvide accurate cost budgeting for proposed projects along with thorough economic analysis for justificationAbility to carry multiple business improvement projects while maintaining excellence in day-to-day responsibilitiesResponsible for accurate tracking of capital and LOE expenseActive understanding and participation in PSSRs, PHAs and HAZOP reviews of facilitiesActively manage asset liabilities as well as plan and manage plug and abandonment activityInterface with regulatory group to ensure proper production reportingInterface with working interest partners, service companies, and regulatory agenciesMentorship of junior engineering staff when applicableEducation & Experience:5-10 years of related industry experienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering is requiredExperience in cross functional petroleum disciplines preferredSkills:Fluency in written and spoken use of the English language is requiredCurrent and up to date software capability using office and collaborative applications is requiredProficiency with data visualization tools to effectively organize and communicate trends and insightsDemonstrated ability to create and work with AI tools focused on production uplift and enhanced field managementExcellent written and spoken communication skills are requiredAbility to work alone under own initiative as well as in close collaboration with field production team and other engineering disciplines is required.Ability to perform analysis, interpretation and problem solving at all levels of complexity with varying volumes of dataAbility to work in and travel to AEC asset areas; position will require approximately 25% of time in fieldWhy Join Anschutz Exploration?At Anschutz Exploration, we’re driven by a shared commitment to company success over individual wins. AEC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, and wellness support.The starting rate for this position is expected to be between $160,000 to $190,000, based on experience, qualifications, and internal pay alignment. Final compensation may vary from this range depending on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s education, skills, prior experience, and evolving market conditions.
