This position handles emergency calls as directed and performs troubleshooting to resolve problems, referring more complex problems to supervisor.This position has the responsibility for multiple jobs, additional service work, greater technical skills, and additional customer interaction than the Systems Specialist II position.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   60% Programs and installs projectsPerforms start-up, check out and commissioning of installed systems as assigned. · Loads panels with database and initial check outPerforms programming, graphics and setup of small jobsUnderstands and edits standard programs written by engineersPerforms Point to Point verification and Commissioning per BCS commissioning standardsCompletes commissioning and deficiencies report with corrective actionsAttends job meetings as requiredFollows and enforces all safety requirements on jobsitesCoordinates installation with all contractors on the jobsite as requiredCoordinates all controls installation with Systems Specialists on jobsitesPerforms wiring checkout and assists in automation systems start-ups with System SpecialistsCompletes final critical adjustments and calibration on automation systems following installation and preliminary set upMakes recommendations to superior regarding changes, improvements or installation of automation system on basis of own findings in the course of assignmentResponds to construction and warranty calls, checks indicated points of trouble, and analyzes full requirements of system involved and checks and tests system componentsHandles emergency service calls as directedDiagnoses trouble or defects in sensors, field panels, or control consoles and determines corrective actionDisconnects and dismantles instruments as necessary and corrects trouble or defect by adjusting, repairing or replacing parts or unitsIf improper operation is due to another component of the automation system rather than the company’s product, discusses problem with supervisor and advises of best course of action to accomplish correction of trouble, and/or contacts service department of manufacturer of faulty component involved to arrange for service20% Manages projects to ensure quality outcomes, on time delivery, within budget expectationUnderstands job cost estimate and monitors job cost to estimate and complete jobs under cost and hours givenCompletes and submits written reports covering all aspects of each assignmentLines out System Specialists on projects and requires them to accomplish specific tasksReports back to Supervisor about System Specialists accomplishing tasks givenConsistently communicates job progress with superiors, subordinates and others as neededCompletes daily log of all job progress and reports to supervisor by end of each weekParticipates in job site final walk thru to ensure quality installation10% Provides technical assistance and training as neededDelivers technical support to end users and field labor when applicableTrains other specialists on controls installation and proper practicesConducts onsite customer training when needed10% Provides service as directedHandles emergency service calls as directed by immediate supervisorRequired to participate in the rotation of the company On-Call scheduleExperience and Requirements:  Education: High School education or equivalentSkills and Experience:  Minimum five years of experience in automation systems installation or related fieldStrong knowledge of automation systems, HVAC and electrical concepts and operationsProficient in job start-up, checkout, programming, graphics and troubleshootingAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsExcellent oral and written communication skillsMathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and create and interpret graphsStrong problem solving abilityAbility to carry out instructions provided in written, oral or diagram formAbility to evaluate urgency of situation and prioritize tasksOrganized with an attention to detailCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Valid driver licenseOther Requirements:  Annual DOT physicalMay require overtime, evening or weekend workRequires travel to and from job sites, some may be out of townRequires occasional overnight staysMust present a professional image of Building Controls and Services on all job sites and follows all proper clothing and safety requirements. (Hard Hats, Boots, Pants, Sleeved Shirts and Safety Glasses)Training and development: 12 hours continuing education annuallyPhysical Requirements:Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, balancing, twisting, and reaching with hands and arms on a regular basis. Frequently requires the ability to squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlRequires the ability to carry, lift, move or push up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and may be required to carry, lift, move or push 100 pounds on a regular basis, and over 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to talk and listen to others. Uses hands or fingers to handle of feel on a regular basis. Frequent use of manual dexterity and visualization of a computer screen through the day. Requires ability to see up close and distant, distinguish colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusWork Environment:This position regularly works primarily at job sites in all types of indoor and outdoor conditions including near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, extreme heat, cold and humidity. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic fumes or chemicals and vibration. Risk of electrical shock is also part of the work environment. Regular noise levels range from moderate to very loudMost of the job duties require the employee to be working on HVAC equipment in close quarters. Most testing is done with the equipment operating, creating noise and air movement. Many of our customer facilities have unfavorable environmental conditions.
