Intramural Sports Supervisor

Definition and PurposeUnder the supervision of Coordinator - Recreational Sports, the Intramural Sport Supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing specific intramural sports as assigned. The Supervisor is responsible for training, supervising and evaluating a staff of Officials to assist with this task. As a part of the Intramural Sports Staff, the Supervisor will assist in establishing clear program direction, evaluate each sport, and solicit feedback from participants. The Sport Supervisor spends a significant amount of time supervising intramural activities on weekends and at night.ASI is committed to supporting the aspirations of the University Learning Objectives. Additionally they will work productively as individuals and in groups while communicating effectively.RequirementsEducational Requirements and Qualifying ExperienceMust be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 unitsMust have officiating experience, administrative skills and a working knowledge of Intramural Sports programmingAbility to be highly organized and have good planning skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsFirst Aid, CPR and AED Certification requiredAbility to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needsExperience with program participation preferredExperience with administrational duties and public relationsGeneral knowledge of program servicesExperience in leadership or managementStrong organizational skillsProgram specific experience preferredAbility to supervise and advise student staff and/or participantsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise program participantsTrain, supervise, schedule and evaluate sports officialsEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate a quality clinic packet for training of officialsPrepare all necessary materials and venues for efficient, safe and service oriented intramural contestsProvide leadership and support for Intramural Sport Officials' Training ClinicsMaintain efficient paper documentation (eligibility, sportsmanship, waivers, results, playoff brackets, etc.)Monitor the IM page of the Recreational Sports website on a regular basisOrganize and lead weekly Sports Officials' meetingsMust hold a CA DL with a driving record acceptable to our insurance underwritersAssist with the quarterly Intramural Sports scheduling processComplete and submit End-of-the-Season (EOS) report(s)Maintain familiarity with evacuation plan for work areaAttend all mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreatsProvide quality customer service for all staff and customersAwareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversityMaintain prompt hours and follow absence proceduresMaintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workersAdhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and proceduresEnsure a safe environment for all participantsCommitment to student development and leadershipHold regularly scheduled office hoursAct as a program ambassador at all times with extensive program knowledgeServe as a role modelOther Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employmentOther duties as assignedPeriod of EmploymentEmployment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.BenefitsCompensation and HoursHourly Pay Rate: $18.40 per hourHourly Pay Range: $18.40 per hour - $18.40 per hourMay require working late nights, weekends, and holidays.
