We prioritize caring for our employees as much as our customers.Plus, we have resident goats, chickens, and ducks!The PositionWe are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Department Sales Lead for our retail garden center's Trees & Shrubs Department. Our vibrant team of botanical aficionados is dedicated to helping customers cultivate their own dream garden oasis by teaching, advising, and inspiring. We are passionate about where we are going as a company, and would be pleased to have you play this key role.This is a full-time year-round position with pay starting at $20+/hour, based on experience. Advancement opportunities available as we continue to grow.Work days are 8:45am - 5:00pm with one required weekend day and split days off. The workweek averages 40 hours.ResponsibilitiesSales and Customer Service (60%)Strong focus on sales - Leads are outgoing and enthusiastic about customer service and making sales, and are readily available to customers on the sales floorEngage with customers directly to assist with plant and product selection, offering expert advice and knowledgeCreate a welcoming and informative environment to enhance the customer experience and drive salesProvide backup support for cashiering as neededProduct Management and Merchandising (30%)Provide recommendations for and place product orders as requiredOversee product placement and ensure attractive merchandising to maximize sales potentialReceive and unload new inventory, assess product quality, tag plants, and arrange them in designated areasMaintain department cleanliness and organization, ensuring products are well-displayed and easily accessibleRegularly update department signage to reflect current promotions and informationTraining and Team Collaboration (10%)Train team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environmentDelegate responsibilities to support staff in a professional and clear manner to ensure efficient operationsAssist with any additional tasks or responsibilities to support the overall success of the departmentRequirementsVery strong knowledge of plants/products in your department, including care and maintenanceHigh level of technical understanding related to horticulture and retail garden center operationsPassion for customer service, retail, and driving salesBackground in retail, specifically garden centers, strongly preferredExceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and professionally (both verbally and in writing) with customers and staffTeamwork mindset and willingness to be flexible and jump in where needed to assistKeen eye for detail, motivation to meet and exceed goals, interest in the numbers (sales goals, margins, budgets)Proficiency in POS systems and Google suiteAbility to safely lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks, including prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and walking on gravel and slopping groundWillingness to work outdoors in all weather conditionsFor Garden’s Sake is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status.
