This is more than a grant writing position, it is an opportunity to directly impact lives, strengthen our community, and help expand resources for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.If you are energized by nonprofit work, community impact, relationship building, and creating meaningful change, we would love to speak with you.Position OverviewThe Grants Director is responsible for leading all aspects of grant strategy, development, submission, reporting, and compliance to secure critical funding that supports our organization and community.This individual will work closely with the CEO, leadership team, finance department, program staff, community stakeholders, and funding partners to ensure the organization continues to grow and deliver life-changing services throughout Western North Carolina.The Grants Director is a key member of the leadership team and plays an essential role in the long-term success and sustainability of the organization.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $80,000 – $85,000 annuallyFull-time, exempt positionExceptional and highly competitive medical benefits packageOpportunity to work alongside a passionate, collaborative, and mission-focused teamMeaningful career growth while making a direct impact in the communityWe are searching for someone who:Is passionate about nonprofit work and community impactBelieves in helping people and advocating for vulnerable populationsThrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environmentIs highly organized, strategic, and detail-orientedHas strong relationship-building and communication skillsCan confidently manage complex grant portfolios and deadlinesWants their work to make a visible difference in people’s livesKey ResponsibilitiesGrant Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and execute a comprehensive grant funding strategy aligned with our missionCollaborate with the CEO and leadership team to identify funding priorities and future opportunitiesServe as a strategic advisor regarding funding trends, opportunities, and sustainability initiativesGrant Writing & ManagementResearch, write, submit, and manage grant applications from federal, state, local, corporate, and private funding sourcesEnsure timely completion of all grant proposals, renewals, reports, and compliance requirementsMaintain a detailed grants calendar and organized tracking systemsFinancial & Program CollaborationPartner closely with the Finance Director to prepare grant budgets, financial reports, and supporting documentationSupport program teams in ensuring grant compliance, performance tracking, and measurable outcomesAssist with oversight of grants connected to Medicaid billing and program operationsRelationship Building & Community EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with funders, foundations, government agencies, corporate sponsors, and community partnersRepresent Homeward Bound at community meetings, public events, and funding discussionsHelp strengthen community awareness Reporting & AccountabilityMaintain accurate records and documentation for all grant-related activitiesProvide regular updates and reporting to executive leadership and the Board of DirectorsSupport organizational transparency and accountability through accurate reporting and communicationQualificationsMinimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, or nonprofit developmentBachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree or grant/fundraising certifications preferredDemonstrated success securing and managing major grantsExperience managing federal, state, and private funding sourcesStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience working in nonprofit environments strongly preferredFamiliarity with Medicaid-related compliance and reporting is a plusProficiency with Google Workspace, grant databases, Bloomerang, NetSuite, and related systemsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-focused environmentOur ValuesWe believe every human being has inherent worth and dignityWe believe housing is a basic human rightWe believe homelessness is solvableWe believe every person deserves to live free from oppression, fear, and discriminationWe are committed to treating every individual with compassion, dignity, and respectJoin Our MissionThis is an incredible opportunity for someone who wants more than just a job.
