Director Metallurgy & Automotive Technical SolutionsThis role leads customer-facing technical strategy, alloy development & applications engineering in support of the company’s U.S. growth strategy & drives value-added casthouse product development for automotive and specialty alloy markets, ensuring the company remains a preferred supplier through leadership in billet technology, metallurgy, and customer solutions.KEY QUALIFICATIONS10+ years of experience in the aluminum industry with deep expertise in aluminum extrusion applications and casthouse operations3–5+ years of leadership experience managing technical or engineering teamsStrong background in aluminum metallurgy, including alloy design, billet production, and downstream processing impactsExtensive knowledge of automotive aluminum applications, specifications, and qualification requirementsProven ability to lead technical teams focused on innovation, CI & customer solutionsStrong business acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and KPI managementExcellent communication & stakeholder engagement skills across commercial, technical & operational teamsAlignment with company culture, values, and safety standards30–60% travel required (potentially higher if remote), including occasional international travelEDUCATION: Master’s or PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering, or related disciplineKEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, this individual connects commercial, technical, and operational functions to deliver innovative, high-performance aluminum solutions and support long-term customer partnerships.Leads the Customer Technical Support team and partners closely with the Technology Center to align resources, capabilities, and strategic priorities.Lead technical strategy for automotive markets, including development & expansion of recycling-based alloysPartner with recycling and casthouse operations to ensure consistent production of high-quality, value-added productsSupport sales and marketing teams with technical expertise, customer engagement, and solution developmentDrive alloy design, development, and qualification activities aligned with customer and market needsDevelop and mentor the team, strengthening technical capabilities and customer responsivenessOwn financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and KPI trackingCollaborate closely with the Technology CenterPartner with casthouse and remelt operations.Provide technical leadership to senior management on strategic initiatives and complex challengesRepresent company in industry forums and technical committees, including AEC, ASTM International, and The Aluminum Association
