Responsibilities And DutiesWhen provided with the necessary service literature, has the technical expertise to service, perform maintenance and repair most:DX equipment up to 100 tonsPackaged, water-cooled AC units up to 150 tonsWater source heat pumps and associated equipmentComputer room type units with self-contained humidifiers and controlsGas fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 150 tonsPneumatic, electronic and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systemsAir handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systemsStarts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in systemProvides repair of requested equipment which includes replacement or adjustment of defective or work parts/components in order to return systems to fully operationalPerforms proper evaluation and diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment at customer sites; which may include bringing questionable situations with equipment and/or customers to the immediate supervisor's attentionPerforms site start-up services for newly installed commercial equipmentConsistently contacts base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all time as to your job status, checking in at the end of the day and getting next day job assignment before leaving for the dayPerforms scheduled preventative maintenance services as determined by customerPerforms cleaning of condenser and evaporator coils, fan and ductworkInspects, adjusts and replaces fan belts on motorsInstalls wiring to connect components to electric power sourceQualifications And SkillsQualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; express excellent communication and customer service skills; demonstrate strong initiative; and ability to work in both a team and individual environment, while consistently adhering to Operating Procedures and ensuring customer satisfaction. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.High School or Trade School Graduate or GEDHolds a Universal Refrigerant Card (Type I or Universal)Commercial experienceMust maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level determined by managementMust maintain a flexible working schedule, including weekend on-call rotation for stand by emergency service per rotation scheduleAppearance must be clean and neat at all timesTruck and all equipment must be clean at all timesAbide by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive drivingMust maintain current, valid driver's license & satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift, push equipment. Must have ability to get into and work in very close/tight areas in performing service calls and installing equipment. Lift, push, pull or carry from 10 to 50 pounds.
