Veterans Home Cook

Overview The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH), a long-term care facility, is seeking to hire a full-time cook with experience in volume cooking to prepare meals for our veterans and members. The hours for this position are 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to work as a team as well as alone. Must be flexible to fill in different shifts when needed. VVH is an experienced residential and healthcare campus for Veterans. Environmental Factors Work is performed in an institutional kitchen during an assigned shift. Incumbents must be able to operate cutters and slicers, handle knives, lift heavy weights (up to 60 lbs.) and work under conditions of high heat and humidity. Duties include supervision of dietary staff and lower level cooks in work situations. Minimum Qualifications Six (6) months or more of experience in volume cooking. OR Completion of a high school level culinary arts career preparation program. OR Completion of a formal course in commercial food preparation.
