Closes On: September 28, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST Location: Senior Center, Royal Oak, MI 48073 Department: Recreation & Public Service Job Status: Part-Time Rate of Pay: $16.50 Position Type: Open Competition/Non-Civil Service Status: Accepting Applications Job Description A Van Driver is responsible for a 12-15 passenger van picking up and dropping off senior Royal Oak residents at various locations. Essential Job Functions A Van Driver may be called upon to do any or all of the following (These examples do not include all of the tasks the employee may be expected to perform.) Complete daily health screenings of building patrons to assure COVID-19 guidelines are being followed. Driver should enjoy working with and assisting senior citizens and handicapped individuals Be familiar with city streets, buildings and addresses Dependability and punctuality Energetic, self-motivated, and positive attitude Ability to follow directions Ability to apply attention to detail Ability to work harmoniously with other employees Good interpersonal skills Excellent communications skills KSA Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications A Van Driver, upon application, shall have the following training & experience: A valid Michigan chaffeur’s license A good driving record and driving experience High school diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements The physical demands and work environment characterists described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person, and by telephone, as well as read and write regular and small print. The employee must be mobile in and outside an enclosed passenger van, with the ability to stand, sit, stoop and kneel, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move items of light to moderate weight. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works both indoors and outdoors, and must be able to tolerate working in changing weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud. Employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, and strong odors. The job requires travel by motor vehicle to other sites. Drivers must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination including drug screen, and are subject to a pre-employment criminal and driving history background check.
